Ellis Myers
I enjoy astronomy and have been the MDAS newsletter editor for about
one year now; before that I was editor of The Refractor, newsletter of
the East Bay Astronomical society for a number of years. Mimi, (my wife)
and I enjoy the Elderhostel program and travel over much of the USA as
members and teachers. We enjoy nature, anthropology and train travel.

Jupiter, Io & Europa (36") |
Following a demonstration of the 36" Mc Donald telescope,
after the session I attached my Nikon to the scope and snapped
two pictures; this is really a composite of those two because
the contrast between Jupiter and the Moons was too much for a
single exposure. This was part of a week long Elderhostel
program at Mc Donald Observatory.

July 11, 1991 Hapuna Beach Hawaii |
We had planned to sleep on the beach, but rain convinced us
the car was better. The clouds opened for us in the morning and
the eclipse was seen in all its glory. People only ten miles
away could see nothing through the clouds. This picture was
taken through a 70-mm TeleVue Oracle telescope
